    Treehouse Arts Piano Studio

    Mrs. Terry Schommer, Teacher

    Policy and Fees

Welcome to my piano studio! In an effort to provide the best possible setting for success and enjoyment of the piano, the following policies about practicing and fees are followed.

    Practicing -Please Note:

Consistent practice and lesson attendance is an essential part of musical growth. Having fun, feeling self-confident and doing well are compromised when students do not practice enough. Young children especially will need support and help with remembering to practice, and with secheduling time to do it every day.

Families today are very busy. If your child is involved in many after school activities and several musical groups already, please don't add piano lessons to the list. Not having enough time equals slow progress, frustration and a student who may begin to think they aren't any good at it.Music does not just happen. It takes practice!

    Reaching me:

    Performance:

In the spring, the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) music festival and our Piano Recital /Party provide chances for students to show their skills in fun and encouraging events. NYSSMA participation is optional and open to second year or longer students. By invitation and readiness, students may participate in an annual Piano Party Recital. Invitations are based on their practice record, progress and interest.Advanced students are required to participate in the recital.

A little about my background includes a degree in piano performance with additional study of piano pedagogy and teaching methods, and more than 25 years of pricate teaching experience. I am active in the New york State School Music Association, for which I serve as a festival adjudicator, and also have a graduate degree in arts administration.
